Around Midnight
Written by Tony Norman
Rome was like a carnival on that Summer night
Via Montasio bathed in gentle light
In my heart I felt like singing
So I picked up my guitar
And drove down to the Spanish Steps
Beneath a millions stars
(Chorus)
All around the city melted
And we were so far from home
So we sang and played our old guitars
On the Spanish Steps in Rome
I was by the fountain
A cold beer in my hand
I heard some young kids playing
And soon we had a band
Three acoustic guitars jamming
Just a little out of tune
In the heart of Rome our song was sung
Beneath the August moon
Chorus
We played until the rhythm tumbled into rhyme
Friends I’d never see again
Moments lost in time
But I can still remember
It felt so good inside
That night we sang on Spanish Steps
Beneath the silver sky
Chorus
Beneath a million stars
On the Spanish Steps in Rome
I still remember
